The Celebrity Drug Bust – Update III

with 6 comments

KP’s note: Please read Update II from June 3 if you haven’t yet so that this following post makes sense. Again, we will write our own input below the line.

MBC After News

MBC After News

  • On June 4, MBC After News (뉴스후) broadcast an interview with “Mr. A”, the celebrity who is suspected of partaking in illegal drugs. Mr. A did not directly deny the charges but said, “I was intoxicated with alcohol at that time so even I can’t remember. I do have a memory of being with those people but I’m not sure what happened because I simply can’t remember.” Regarding his association with Ye Hak Young, he explained, “We were part of the same office (agency) and used to drink alcohol together often. I’m more uncomfortable because of that so I can’t even see him. I don’t know what to do.”
  • Mr. B is a celebrity who was part of a recent successful drama. He along with Mr. A and others are being investigated for taking drugs in Gangnam district. Mr. B also belonged to the same modelling agency as Ye Hak Young did.
  • According to After News, the police is also investigating Ms. C for use of ecstasy. Ms. C was part of a female musical group that did activities abroad (particularly in Thailand). She is close friends with Yoon Seol Hee.
  • The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on June 3 that 84 people have been booked (with or without detention) on charges of drugs. Approximately 10 among them are celebrities. After News claims that there are still some famous celebrities who have yet to be uncovered by the public.

KP’s extended note:

Mr. A is widely rumoured to be Lee Chun Hee, based on news programs’ oral and visual descriptions. As we’ve said several times before, Lee and Ye Hak Young belonged to the same agency. We would like to emphasize – the information regarding Mr. A, Mr. B, and Ms. C are from news reports, not police reports.

Based on After News‘ information of Mr. B – Ye’s ex-agency colleague and recent drama participant – Im Ju Hwan continues to fit the description. However, Im strongly denied the allegations back in April claiming that the person being investigated was a civilian with the same name. I would like to believe him. For those who are skeptical, the “facts” do stack up against him. Only three of the former Men Management models have participated in recent dramas: **Jung Eui Chul (Boys Over Flowers), Im Ju Hwan (Boys Over Flowers), and Yeo Wook Hwan (Ja Myung Go). However, nobody would consider Ja Myung Go as a commercial success, which points to one of the Boys Over Flowers boys. (Of course, I could have missed something when searching everybody’s 2009 projects.) Once again, these are my personal deductions based on news reports – not police confirmation.

As of June 5, that’s the information we came across.

**To commenter oh-no, Jung Eui Chul was not in question at the time because news reports said the celebrity’s initial was I.

P.S. I feel a little unfair tagging Lee Chun Hee when it’s not confirmed by the police yet. Should I not? On the other hand, the fact that he hasn’t spoken out against SBS for using a [censored] photo of him makes me think that he really might be under investigation (whether or not he’s innocent).

  1. I’m getting the feeling it is Chun Hee. I love FO and I hate that he’s one of the rumored suspects. It definitely is suspicious he hasn’t made any statements disregarding SBS’s “subtle” accusations but before I jump the gun, I’m going to wait for more info to come out.

Obviously I don’t want to discount the seriousness of this case (in Korea anyway) and his on screen persona on FO may not translate into what he is like in real life, but he doesn’t seem like the type of person who needs drugs to have fun. However from the statement made by Mr. A, who is supposedly Chun Hee, this sounds like an isolated incident, and the fact that there were people mixing drinks “in public” makes me think that maybe his drink was spiked and maybe he knew who did it, but didn’t’ want to rat out the person because he may be a friend.

We’ll see soon enough. I do hope it was just a misunderstanding.

  4. Read all the comment thru soompi etc, everybody refuse to believe it’s Chun Hee. Look like everybody love him. Thanks to FO, he built an awesome image. I hope this news won’t reflect his career.

  5. By the way, there were people in Soompi saying “Mr I” may not be the suspect’s initial, until the identity is officially disclosed, we can only go on guessing.

But why aren’t the 10 celebrities booked without detention named publicly like what has happened to Joo Jihoon?
