13th PiFan Film Festival
The Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival (PiFan) kicked off its 13th year on July 16 in Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do. The festival will run for 10 days, screening 201 films from 41 countries under the theme of ‘Love, Fantasy, Adventure’.
Celebrities including Ahn Sung Ki, Jang Na Ra, and Ku Hye Sun walked the red carpet.
KP’s note: Kim Moon Soo is the current governor of Gyeonggi-do.
KP’s note: All three are actors.
KP’s note: Ku attended as the director of her short film – not as an actress. The English title of her 14-minute film is The Madonna (유쾌한 두우미), not the Cheerful Caretaker.
KP’s note: The five ladies are the leads of Horror School 5.
KP’s note: I don’t know why I bother putting up Andre Kim’s picture when he always looks the same anyways…
Model turned actress Lee Young Jin was chosen as this year’s festival ambassador, referred to as PiFan Lady.
Actors Lee Jong Hyeuk (Crush and Blush) and Cho Eun Ji (Yoga School) presided over the opening ceremony.
The festival’s opening film was director Iwamoto Hitoshi’s MW, which tells the story of two men plotting revenge on the Japanese government for hushing up an island massacre that took place 16 years ago.
PiFan will come to a close on July 26 with British director Gareth Huw Evans’ Indonesian film, Merantau.
